WATER POLO - WATER POLO EXPERTS TAKE ALL-IRELAND SENIOR (Jan '07)

The date was January 31st. The venue was the National Aquatic Centre, Blanchardstown. The competition was the All-Ireland Senior Water polo Championships. The troops were ready.

This team only formed over a year ago and they were up against some of the finest schools in the land. However, these tremendous athletes would not be phased as they possessed some of the country's top players, including Eoin Bridgeman, John Kelly and Sean Kenna.

After cruising through the group stages, the boys lined up against St. Joseph's School for Deaf Boys. Joeys had beaten us in the Leinster Finals recently however, perseverance and an iron will ensured Aidan's would come out victorious.

This resulted in a mouth-watering final against the experienced R.B.A.I. from Belfast, however, St. Aidan's muscle and steel saw our men lift the trophy, beating the Antrim men 9-4.

It was also a day for celebration for the lads clubs, St. Vincent's and the Aer Lingus swimming school. What a win, what a day!
