ATHLETICS - ALL IRELAND CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS (Mar '07)

Location: DCU, Glasnevin, Dublin

Date: Saturday, 3rd March 2007

We promised this to ourselves on the 4th of Spetember last year. Between then and now we clocked up 1200 miles training, 6-8 times a week. And on the 3rd of March at 1:59 p.m. we stuck to our promise knowing that nobody wanted it more than the eleven men there who crossed that finish line together bringing more silverware back to Collins Avenue.

After the hearbreak of the year before, there was no way we were walking out of DCU as losers again. We wanted to prove we were the best in Ireland and the Broher Clarke Shield proved that. Over 1000 miles from September and about 8 morning runs, coming in at 7.45, we were 100% prepared. Even though everything didn't go everyone's way on the day, we still won and 6 months of blood, sweat, tears, injuries, sickness, poor form, fights and blatent hard work was for that gold medal and those 2 trophies
