The Great O'Neill, master strategist, pitched his tent in the middle of DCU grounds, Glasnevin; he then sent his troops into battle in search of silverware in the All-Ireland Cross-Country Championships.
First into the fray was Jordan Logue who finished in 11th place in the Junior race - a brave effort as he had qualified to run as an individual without the support of a team behind him. The U-17 team consisted of Colm Murray, Tony Kavanagh, Mark McDonald, Gavin Redmond, Paul Sheerin, David Murphy, Eoin McDonnell and Larry Brady. Like stouthearted heroes, they were all running strongest at the finish.
With a phalanx of support from teachers, parents and the redoubtable O'Neill to spur them on the team of 15 yr olds managed to place 2nd in this prestigious event.
It was back to the tent after a job well done and next year to look forward to!
