CROSS-COUNTRY UPDATE

St. Aidan's has a proud athletics tradition to uphold having held the All-Ireland Senior Cross-Country title on many occasions in the past. Our athletes have been in training since September and are already reaping the rewards of their hard work.

Our first outing took place on a windy day in Drogheda in October with victory for our squad in the U14 Invitation race, with great performances produced by Mark McDonald and Eoin McDonnell both from 1 South.

Four weeks hard training followed and in the All-Ireland CBS Cross Country Championships held in the Phoenix Park, St. Aidan's finished second placein the U14 race. St. Aidan's finished in third position overall in the Championships.

The New Year brought further success for the U14's in the North Leinster Championships, Mark McDonald finishing second.

LEINSTER CROSS-COUNTRY TITLE FOR ST. AIDAN'S - FEBRUARY 2004

St. Aidan's cross-country team bridged a gap of 11 years by winning the Leinster U14 title in DCU on Wednesday February 11th.

Mark McDonald produced a marvellous performance to finish second and he was ably supported by Eoin McDonnell in seventh place. Colm Murray, Chris Kelly, Ian Norton, Tony Kavanagh, Gavin Redmond and David Lyons all played a significant part in securing the vital points necessary in achieving this notable success.

Team manager Mr. Alan O'Neill has shown his versatility in preparing teams to win Leinster titles in both football and athletics.
