Awards Ceremony

Our 3rd Annual Awards Ceremony was held on Thursday 25th May and once again we had a fantastic evening. It was a night of celebration for our students, parents and teachers. Mr. McDermott organised and hosted the event with his usual charm and good humour. Great credit must go to him and all who helped with the organisation and presentation of the night.

St. Aidan's would like to thank especially our very generous sponsors, Larkhill and District Credit Union, Whitehall Colmcille G.A.A. Club, Clonliffe Harriers A.C., Parents Advisory Council, the Power family, Board of Management and Mr. J. Reynolds.

We look forward to a new crop of winners next year and we would encourage each and every student to participate in the Awards Scheme. We would welcome additional sponsorship and thank again all of our present sponsors.

Bullying

A drama group called Class Act visited St. Aidan's on Tuesday 18th May and performed a play entitled Silent Scream.

This play is specifically targeting teenagers and deals with the issue of bullying. All first and second year classes attended and the feedback from our students is very positive.

Ms. Dunne organised the event and special thanks to her for this most valuable work.

Message from the Principal

On behalf of the teaching staff I would like to wish all of our Leaving and Junior Cert. exam students the best of luck in their forthcoming exams. I hope that all their hard work and commitment will have paid off and that the results they get will reflect their true potential. I want to pay tribute to their teachers for their hard work, encouragement and dedication and for the many times they went beyond the call of duty to assist their students in any way.

A special word of thanks to those Leaving Cert. students who, throughout their five or six years in St. Aidan's, helped to make the school a better place. In particular, I would like to express my thanks to the eight sixth year students on the Student Council for their leadership and good example. They contributed in a very special way in raising the profile of the school.

In conclusion, I must express my gratitiude to all parents for their support and kindness. Hoping all of you have a most enjoyable summer.

Mr. J. Reynolds

Halloween Readings

Library Readings

Our library readings have been hugely successful this year. Great credit must go to Ms. O'Driscoll, Ms. Dunne and Mrs. Lewis for their great work. We've added greatly to our library stock thanks to the generous support from parents and teachers.

Our final reading of the year tackled the subject of bullying and this completed a week of events that highlighted this issue. We hope to continue with the same great level of participation in '04-'05.
