Welcome to our new Deputy Principal

All the staff and students of St. Aidan’s C.B.S. would like to welcome our new Deputy Principal, Mr. B. Harrington to the school. Mr. Harrington comes to the school with a wealth of experience and ideas. He is very enthusiastic about working in St. Aidan’s and we wish him the very best of luck for the future.

Celebrity Students

Well done to all of our students, both past and present that formed the spine of the team that reached the final of Celebrity Bainisteoir. The lads were representing their club, Ballymun Kickhams, and they were narrowly beaten in the final by Castleisland Desmonds. They had a massive impact on their celebrity coach, Mairéad Farrell. A lot of people involved with the show were particularly impressed by the skills of Conor ‘The Bear’Weir. Pat Gilroy may be knocking soon Conor!

New Beginnings

St. Aidan’s C.B.S. is my new Secondary School. It is very different to my Primary School. In the first few weeks you have to get used to a lot of new teachers and new classrooms. We also have lockers in which to put books that we don’t need. Our new school is very big compared to my old school. It has 2 labs, a library, 2 sports fields, a gym, lot of interesting classrooms and much more.

All students are divided into four groups called North, South, West and East. I am enjoying St. Aidan’s much more than my primary School. The school has so much equipment which makes each subject interesting. I also like the choice of practical subjects, such as Art,Woodwork,Technology, Music and Technical Graphics. First Years get a two week trial of each to decide which they like best.

I am currently in Technology with 1 North and we have already completed the music course. St. Aidan’s also has lots of sports teams, from table tennis to water-polo and everything in between. The school also has a bike yard so you can cycle to school and lock your bike up safely.

On my first day in school it all the First Years were given a tour and we got to do team-bonding exercises and look at what each classroom was used for. St. Aidan’s is a brilliant school and I hope we have a lot of good times here in the future!

What a Wheely great idea!

Top marks to past-pupil, Cllr. Andrew Montague on the success of his Bike Scheme proposal. The scheme now has over 25,000 subscribers and has become the most successful shared bike scheme in Europe. It is great to see so many cyclists in the city and of course, our environment is the real winner.
