U-14 Football
All players performed extremely well and trained very hard during the year.
They are a very committed and dedicated bunch of players who will no doubt
see silverware in the St. Aidans’ colours in the next few years. Unfortunately,
a couple of results didn’t go our way this year and we missed out on qualifying
for the Dublin ‘A’ semi-final by the narrowest of margins. However, there is
plenty of hope for the future as there are excellent footballers in first year
who will hopefully get the chance to represent St. Aidan’s in the first year
football competition in February 2009 but that will all depend upon Batt
O’Keefe’s proposed education cuts. |
U-16 Football
This year was another case of ‘what might have been’ for our U-16 footballers.
We were competitive in every game but got edged out in three of the four group
games. Injuries were a huge factor in the loss to St Declan’s, while a loss of
concentration against Malahide CS allowed the opposition to steal a game we had
been leading by 8 points. The highlight of the season was a spirited victory
against a fancied St Fintan’s outfit. Many players showed qualities that will
benefit the senior squad in years to come and some new talent can be seen emerging
to take on to next year’s U-16 panel. The Senior Squad are currently involved in
the championship and we wish them the very best of luck. |
