One day, four All-Ireland titles!

Athletes

Pardon the pun, but the athletes have exploded out of the blocks this season. Our senior runners have been joined by an awesome group of first years and they want to stick their name on a few of the trophies that the elites captured all those years ago.

After some phenomenal performances at the St. Joseph’s Invitation, the troops headed to the All-Ireland C.B.S. championships full of confidence. Our under 14 team stormed to victory with prodigious Conor Turner sprinting home in first place. Our under 17’s produced an incredible team run to win the title with Jordan Logue leading the weary troops home. The senior race was always going to be exciting with Mark McDonald (just back from representing Ireland in Wales), Eoin McDonnell (just back from representing Ireland in Belgrade) and Tony Kavanagh and Colm Murray who have just returned from the world mountain running championships in Turin. They cruised around the course and won the title easily.

That was not the end of an incredibly rewarding day. As the squad were posing for photos with the Evening Herald the announcement came through that we had scooped the overall award. Four All-Ireland titles in one day! What a team! What a day!
