Christmas Greetings

CHRISTMAS GREETINGS

You will see on reading this newsletter some of the great things that are taking place in St. Aidan's in a wide range of activities both curricular and non-curricular.

Christmas is a time when we pay respect to those less fortunate than ourselves. During this term a very significant contribution has been made to many charities by pupils in St. Aidan's in a wide range of fundraising activities such as a sponsored walk, family table quiz, battle of the bands, 12-hour fast, non-uniform day, mini-company projects, etc. The support of both staff and parents in all of these activities is greatly appreciated.

As we approach the Christmas break I would like to wish all staff, students, parents and St. Aidan's Community of Brothers a very happy and holy Christmas along with a very prosperous New Year.

Mr. J. Reynolds (Principal)

MINISTERIAL VISIT

On Wednesday the 23rd of November, Mary Hanafin, Minister for Education and Science visited our school to launch an initiative to attract more males into primary teaching. Past pupils Paddy Christie and Niall McCarthy were on hand to speak of their experiences in the field. The Minister spoke of the need to address the severe shortage of males opting to take up primary teaching as a career. All of us were very impressed with her delivery and her efforts to meet and greet so many students and guests.

Judging by the reaction of some of our students in subsequent media interviews she seems to have made some think about a career in teaching.

Mr. Reynolds thanks all students and staff for making our hosting of the event so successful.
