The All-Ireland C.B.S. cross-country championships were held on December
7th, in the ALSAA sports complex. The men of St. Aidan's saw this as a great
opportunity to show some steel, and did so by claiming three national titles.
Our under 13 team, featured Adam Whittle, Stephen Power, Andrew O'Hanlon(C),
Stephen O'Rourke, Aidan McDonnell, Cesar Romero and Gerard Fitzgibbon beat a
strong field to win the Under 13 title. Andrew O'Hanlon was narrowly beaten
into second place. This was a great achievement for our first year athletes
and with this strength and discipline, the future looks bright.
Our under 15 team maintained a 100% record, as they continue to dominate
Irish athletics. Mark McDonald was crowned All-Ireland champion, closely
followed by Colm Murray (V.C.), Tony Kavanagh, David Lyons, Larry Brady, Gavin
Redmond,

Paul Sheerin, Eoin McDonnell (C) and Shane Curran. Our under 14 team were
very unlucky to finish fourth, however the team ran with great heart. Ronan
Bergin, Jordan Logue and Thomas McCarrick (C) were particularly strong. Our
under 17 athletes also showed great heart finishing 6th overall. Alan Cleary,
Liam Burns and Aaron Rossiter showed great strength on the day.
This may be the last race of 2004, but it is just the beginning of what is
shaping up to be a very fruitful season. The athletes have trained very hard
over the last three months, and they will continue to do so over the next three
months. We are very proud of them, as they continue to bring glory to the 'red
and white'!
All of the athletes would like to say a huge thanks to Mr. A O'Neill for his
tremendous commitment in managing and coaching our teams.
