Transition Year Update |
F1 Schools Challenge10 Transition Year students undertook the arduous task of designing a model Formula I car on computer aided design software'solid edge'.Their final design was milled out of balsa wood in D.C.U. Two teams, Team Battery' and 'Project Vitesse' represented the school in the regional finals on Thursday, February 9th. In preparation for the project they had to design a portfolio, find sponsorship and market their team. Ben Griffins article was published along with a picture in the Northside People. He was also interviewed on the radio station, Near FM. Daniel Blanchfield had a very early start on Tuesday, March 20th, when he was interviewed byTV3's Alan Hughes on Ireland A.M. On the day of the regional finals, Team Battery came fourth overall and project Vitesse came second along with having the fastest car on the day. Both teams have secured a place at the National finals. A special word of thanks to the teams sponsors, Bank of Ireland, Zero G, O'Connell Motors and Trade Wins. Over the past few weeks the T.Y. students have been involved in Fl Racing and the Mini-Company Trade Fair. Congratulations on your success, and all the best in the National finals. During the week starting on March 26th,T.Y. students will be participating in their Public Speaking Exams. We wish them every success. During May they will participate in the Young Social Innovators. During this |
event they will meet 3,000 other T.Y students in the R.D.S. who will also be displaying their project work. On the 2nd of April, 41 students will be jetting off for 5 days of fun in Spain, during which time they will visit Barcelona, Nou Camp, a chocolate museum, Monserrat and Port Aventura Theme Park. We wish them and the teachers accompanying them a safe journey and an enjoyable trip. MR. N. DUFFY

![]() Seachtain na Gaeilge was our best yet in Scoil Aodhain.We held aTrath na gCeist in the Halla for the second years, who were shown scannan Gaeilge and they also heard some Ceol Gaelach. |
Another highlight from the coicis was definitely 'An Cluiche Mor Muinteoiri vs Daltai'. The muinteoiri were beaten, (largely due to the fact that yours truly was in goal).Thanks to Mark Roe and Niall Preston for organising the event. Go raibh maith agat to the ceoltoiri agus Mr. Gill for the seisiun ceoil iontach sa halla. Mile buiochas to David Doherty who was the griangrafadoir oifigiul for the coicfs, and to Sean Moore for his continued support and help. First years had a comortas na bpostaer, which was won by Stephen Sheridan and Aaron Bridger. An dfospoireacht took place in the demonstration room with outstanding performances from Andrew Salter, Craig O'Hare, Karl Elliott, David E. Doyle and Cathal Ormond. Roinn na Gaeilge are extremely proud of the ard-chaighdean Gaeilge ata ag na leaids. An crannchur was held ar an dara Aoine, with the chead duais of an MP3 player going to Mark Ennis, and with nios mo na lOOeuro donated to the 'Peter McVerry Trust'. Comhgairdeas! And go raibh maith agat to the Student Council for promoting the crannchur and to the 2nd years for making posters to advertise it. Also Mfle bufochas to the Student Council and Ms.Walsh for organising and hosting 'An Ceili Mor', one of the highlights of the fortnight with the cailini from Dominican Convent visiting. |
