GREEN DAY VISITS ST. AIDAN'S

As everyone now knows, the school was recently judged by AnTaisce to be a 'Green' school by being awarded the prestigious prize of the 'International Green Flag'. On 24th of February, the Green Flag was presented to Liam Burns (TYPA), Darragh Fleming (I West), David C Doyle (5 South) and Mr. C orbett of the Green-Schools Committee by Mr. Trevor Sargent, leader of the Green Party and by An Taisce. The Flag is a symbol which represents the efforts taken by these and the other 'Green' students to promote litter awareness and recycling in the school over two and a half years.

An official flag-raising ceremony took place in the school on the 24th of March to acknowledge this great accomplishment. Ms. Ruane was instrumental in organising the

event and the hall looked spectacular thanks to her efforts and those of Transition Years and the Students' Council. About 200 students packed into the hall to witness the presentation of the flag to the Board of Management by 'Green' student Cian Ormond of 6 North. Mr. Reynolds spoke of being very proud of our work and thanked us for our immense contribution. Two officers came from An Taisce, one of whom spoke of our honourable achievement.

Dublin footballer, Paddy Christie, a past pupil and teacher at Our Lady of Victories in Glasnevin told the audience of his school's 'three' Green Flags. He encouraged us to keep promoting the message of protecting the environment from litter in school and at home and to keep going with recycling. Mr.

Corbett did a great job of hosting the ceremony.

The flag-raising went ahead despite the very wet morning. It looks great flying outside the only 'Green' school in the locality. Don't forget that EVERY student must now play his part by not throwing litter in the school so that our work means something. We want you to do your bit to keep our place of learning Green and tidy.

LENTEN FAST

We are now collecting and counting the money for the Annual Sponsored Lenten Fast. All of out students, Junior and Seniors, participated and we thank them for their effort and generosity. The proceeds will go to our Zambian Mission Fund and Concern.

EXAM TIME

By the time you read this, there will be less than 6 weeks left to exams. Whatever you do - don't panic. Keep working away and remember that revision is the key to exam success.

Keep in mind that exam stress impacts on the whole school community; allowances have to be made all round. However, it is important that all students especially Junior Cert and Leaving Cert students adhere to the discipline code, so that we can all bring the year to a successful conclusion.

EASTER PRAYER

Lord Jesus,

Let us find joy in making new beginnings:

After failure, help us try again;

After sickness, let us find good health;

After sadness, may we take new heart;

After falling out, may we forgive;

After doing good, may we do more;

In these ways, Lord Jesus,

May we share the blessings of your

Resurrection to new life. Amen.
