Senior Hurling
Our senior hurlers have recently won the Dublin 'C Championship. This is the first time in
20 years that St. Aidan's have achieved this level of success. Great tribute must be paid to
Mr. Sean Moore for his commitment to hurling in St. Aidan's. Well done to the lads
especially Andy Flaherty, Joey Boland,Tomas Brady and Sean Scallon (C) for their magnificent
contributions.

1st Year Basketball
Great success was enjoyed by the 1st Year basketball team this year. Having defeated teams
from Portmarnock, Ballymun, St. David's, Chanel College and Lucan we found ourselves
undefeated entering the Dublin final. Unfortunately, we suffered defeat after under
performing against a strong Dublin Oaks squad.
As a result of our success in the Dublin campaign we qualified for the All Ireland
tournament in Tralee on the 9th and 10th of April. St. Aidan's defeated Kinsale 30-20 and
despite some outstanding individual performances, we lost to Castlerea.
This was a great achievement for us and, hopefully, we can go one step further next year.
TEAM: John Martin (C), Sean Moore, Peter Ashton, David O'Beirne, Robert Keorns,
Martin Hunter, Daniel Duggan, lan Whelan, Adrian Dimia, Cesar Romero, Liam O'Hobain, Gareth
Roe and John Kelly.
A huge thanks to Ms. Peoples and to Mr. Groarke for their great commitment and
encouragement.

Under 16 Gaelic Football Report
St.Aidan's 1-11 Coláiste Eoin 1-10
The 'Irish Independent' called it, "a thriller" whilst the 'Evening Herald' called it "the
game that had everything". People were talking about it for days afterwards. Of course, we
are talking about the Dublin I6A football championship final which was contested in
Belfield on February 1st.
The men from St. Aidan's were ready to retain the title, but nothing could have prepared
them for this incredible game. The team had seen off Malahide C.S. the previous week and
confidence was high in the camp as they prepared to take on Coláiste Eoin C.S., Stillorgan.
They got off to a great start with Paul McReamoin rattling the crossbar after half a
minute. By half-time Aidan's were in control, the score standing at 6 points to 4 points.
However, in the second half Coláiste Eoin came out fighting, leveling the scores. They
scored a cracking goal with approximately 10 minutes to play. The Aidan's team found
themselves one goal down with one minute on the clock. Then, in a moment of genius, All-
Ireland 100m champion, Luke Sweetman soloed the ball some 50 metres and smashed the ball
into the net. It was then Ted Furman's chance to get in on the act as he quickly mopped
up the ball, and took a brilliant score right on the full-time whistle. What a game, what
a win!

Under 18 Team Table Tennis
What a season it has been! Leinster League and Cup double and 3rd place finish in the All-
Ireland. This was a particularly successful year for the St. Aidan's Under 18 table tennis
team. The team secured the league title in February with a comprehensive play-off victory
over Newbridge College. This qualified the boys for the All-Ireland play-offs.
Unfortunately, the boys faced tough opposition in the All-Ireland Semi-final and went down
fighting to RBAI from Belfast. However, in the 3rd and 4th place play-off, they had a
splendid victory over the Connacht Champions.
Earlier, in March, the lads went one step further than last year and were victorious in
the Leinster Senior Cup play-offs where they defeated Marion College (also from Dublin).
The team were Stephen Keenan, Daniel Keenan, Kevin Cregan, Ross Walsh, Carl Ivory and lan
Pike. A big thank you to Mr. McCafferty for all his support and encouragement.
