The annual St. Aidan's award night celebrated 40 years of the school's existence with the emphasis on many of our illustrious past pupils. Guest of honour was An Taoiseach, Mr. Bertie Ahern T.D., who presented many of the prizes. Mr. Ahern was a member of our first Leaving Cert. class in 1969. Also present was the deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin, past pupil Andrew Montague. Other distinguished past pupils present at the ceremony were Olympian Niall Bruton who won the world student games 1500m. title in 1991 and Eddie Sullivan who is secretary General of the Department of Finance. Perhaps the past pupil who elicited most laughs from the audience with his hilarious anecdotes was Michael Nugent (L.C. '78) who is of course the co-author of the hit musical I KEANO.
