On the 28 November 1997 An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, and the Minister for Education and Science, Michéal Martin, with Mr Alfie Kane of Telecom Éireann, launched a national policy on information technology in education in St Aidans School. This policy framework is called Schools IT 2000. it01.jpg

it05.jpg While in St Aidans the Taoiseach presented Computer Studies certificates to a group of senior students.
The Computer Studies programme is followed by students in fifth year as an optional component of the Leaving Certificate Mathematics programme. it06.jpg
it09.jpg Students who complete a programme of work, present a portfolio and meet the required standard are awarded a certificate by the Department of Education and Science.
